2019 Running Schedule

Feb - Mesa Phoenix Marathon (AZ): 2:37:45. Lingering flu didn't help, but I still got a PR.

April - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon (UT). Mostly just going to be a training run. Finally got myself into the sub-4 club last year, so I'll just have fun with it this year.

May - Stillwater Half Marathon (MN). Goal race for Spring. Looking for ~1:12.

October- Chicago Marathon (IL). We'll see where I'm at in Fall, but probably will be looking for low 2:30s.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy, make improvements, maximize my potential.

Personal:

I am a bioengineering PhD currently working as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah, where I design and improve neurosurgical approaches for treating movement disorders.

Summer 2018 update: I'm lazy about copying over from Strava, so find me over there for day-to-day runs until I eventually get around to copying everything over here.

8.5 with Fritz, JP, and Dan. About 500' of total gain on the Wasatch out and back at 7:01 AP. Felt harder than it should've, but that was expected with my complete and total lack of any semblance of fitness. Then, played 40 holes of disc golf at Creekside and jogged between all of my shots for another 2 miles. Finally, I skied for a few hours. Active day, but leg was 100% fine other than a very minor twinge about 2 miles into the run. I'm beginning to become confident that it is actually healed and the only things I feel in it are just related to scar tissue bugging me.

Sounds like a busy day. Is there such thing as speed disc golf? Maybe you could go pro.

Haha yeah, would be fun. I kind of play with that in mind sometimes, but it's only really possible at odd hours when the courses aren't crowded. Fortunately, most people that play disc golf are the same type of people that sleep in late, so if I play in mornings, the courses are totally empty.
