2018 Running Schedule

Feb - Phoenix Marathon: 2:39:39. Glad to get a sub-2:40 marathon and a new PR in my first marathon in 3.5 years.

April - Emigration 10: 54:44. Happy with this one. Glad to get a good win.

April - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon - 3:59:16. Finally a sub-4 here despite the worst conditions I've run it in.

May - Stillwater Half Marathon (MN): 1:16:50. Went out at 1:12 flat pace in high heat and humidity and died very badly, barely maintaining a running cadence on the final hills. Worst race of the year by far.

June - Utah Valley Marathon - 2:38:50. Glad to nab a new PR off of mostly half training.

July - Des News Half: 1:09:58. Really surprised myself with this one.

September - Berlin Marathon - Goal of sub-2:35:00.

Personal:

I am a bioengineering PhD currently working as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah, where I design neurosurgical approaches for treating movement disorders.


Summer 2018 update: I'm lazy about copying over from Strava, so find me over there for day-to-day runs until I eventually get around to copying everything over here. I'm really thinking long term this year; thus, I'm focusing on consistency while still working really hard, and I'm glad to say that I'm not only in the best shape of my life, but my fitness is rapidly improving. I'm strongly motivated to see how fast I can get over the coming years.

Long, easy, mountain run with Lara. 4200' gain. Felt good until about 19, when dusty air got the best of my lungs. Last climb was terrible, as was last descent. Threw up afterwards from all the coughing. Need to be smarter with my inhaler.
