2019 Running Schedule

Feb - Mesa Phoenix Marathon (AZ): 2:37:45. Lingering flu didn't help, but I still got a PR.

April - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon (UT). Mostly just going to be a training run. Finally got myself into the sub-4 club last year, so I'll just have fun with it this year.

May - Stillwater Half Marathon (MN). Goal race for Spring. Looking for ~1:12.

October- Chicago Marathon (IL). We'll see where I'm at in Fall, but probably will be looking for low 2:30s.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy, make improvements, maximize my potential.

Personal:

I am a bioengineering PhD currently working as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah, where I design and improve neurosurgical approaches for treating movement disorders.

Summer 2018 update: I'm lazy about copying over from Strava, so find me over there for day-to-day runs until I eventually get around to copying everything over here.

My leg has been sucky for a few weeks and hurt a lot for a couple weeks after that last run. Frustrating, but I'm so busy with trying to wrap up the biggest project of my PhD that I haven't noticed that much that I haven't been running. I ran 4 laps + a slight bit more at Liberty with a crew this morning. Average pace of 7:0x, starting at 8:00 and getting into the 6:40s. Felt good to run again.

First run in 4 weeks. Running just hasn't been a priority lately. I'm getting married in 4 months and need to bust my butt in the lab to finish up my PhD in the mean time. I've been working very long hours, but it's paying off. I wish I had the time to train, but right now, I just don't. Fortunately, the hardest paper of my dissertation has been completed and submitted for publication as of this week, so I'd like to think that things will be a little easier at this point, but I kind of doubt that that's really true. Oh well. I have plenty of time in the future.
